My Project Demo 1 and piece of thought

Yesterday had a meeting with Cik Hazinah, and I'm kinda realize that actually there's a lot of things I've forgotten. I shall start with my project's modules/parts.
    1.
  1. A Complete Sender-Server-Receiver Program, which includes:
    a) sender exchange his fingerprint signature to server for a token
    b) sender do hashing and Asymmetric encryption
    c) receiver received file, decrypt
    d) receiver request sender's fingerprint from server, to check data's integrity

  2. 2.
  3. Get the time needed for Signed file to send over the network. (does fingerprint signature increases the file size much?)

  4. 3.
  5. Get the time for the whole process in 1. (Overall process time)

  6. 4.
  7. Find something to crack my own fingerprint digital signature. (Test it security level)
Okay... that's roughly about my application. When I've go all the data want, then I have to analyze it in my report. And, seriously, I have been WARNED! To pass up my PSM2 report EARLY this time....

My supervisor and I discussed on what she expects in next Demo:
    1.
  1. No more localhost, but virtual server and another PC, since we need another PC i think department/faculty should let us claimed for another laptop right.... since you cant possibly stay all day long in the Lab, or move the whole Lab's Desktop back into my room. You know... PSM are all midnight's job....

  2. 2.
  3. The whole signing and receiving process is completed with the actual fingerprint device. (ha! talk about device, I didn't destroy the thing! Just have to replace the adapter... My thousand thanks to my Dearest Academic Advisor, En. Bahrim for his time to help me check for the fingerprint device...)
Ah... talked too much.... that's it for now I think. Thanks for whoever reading this. Text are annoying, hence i found a great picture to put up.

This is research....lolz !

p/s: I've mistaken everything!!! My PSM1 got an 'A', its CCNA3&4 B.... hahahahahhaha so noob!

Progress Reporting (30 July)

Here's the important date:

Demo 1 + Log Book = week 7 (23/8 - 27/8)
Demo 2 + Log Book = week 11(4/10 - 9/10)

PSM2 Supervisor Draft report Correction = week 13 (18/10 - 22/10)

3 more weeks to go for the Demo 1, currently still doing the Signer(sender) -> Server -> Receiver part.... yet have to capture the time taken while file transfered so i can store in database and do comparison and analysis.

Met some confusion and will have to edit a little bit from my PSM 1 again. That's all for now.

Thanks for reading

p/s: sooooo many things to do beside this PSM !! if i am able to push away everything and just concentrate on my PSM, it'll be fantastic !!

Progress Reporting (15 July)

Regarding my research, I have to do an experiment, luckily not a boring one. Briefly talk about the experiment:
Read fingerprint from a person
combine with a simple txt file (Sign it) -> measure time taken
Apply some encryption (digital signature) -> measure time taken
send the whole thing to receiver-> measure time taken
receiver decrypt, to ensure the receiver is authorized to read it
read the signature and make sure its from the correct sender

Today, right now, I haven got the thumbprint reader. Currently I've done the File sending part from 1 host to another then read it, all about Socket programming and File Stream. A very basic part of my experiment application. Since this experiment only takes very small size of txt file as measure, I wont use FTP then.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading, anything just leave a comment or Shout ----There--->

Tonight's gonna be a good night

Finally, the stone of my heart lightened a tiny little bit, since I've got to see where my PSM 1's finishing line.

At the same time, only i realize how BIG my PSM will be. Although that excites me, but I've fell back into reality in a flashing moment. Tonight's gonna be a good good night...

To log the progress of my PSM1 in this blog, I'm gonna do it sincerely, since no one will fall into my trick coz even my computer also know how lazy I am on doing the PSM before this. xD

Let's starts from the day I attend the group meeting and saw Shiek's presentation, also that day I start to pass up my proposal.

20th Aug (Thurs): Attend Group meeting, task given to write a proper proposal following the format. (Coz the day before I actually pass up the hand-written version =P)

23rd Aug (Sun): Was super tired after working, done with the PSM proposal.

24th Aug (Mon): Slipped the proposal into my SV's room. Keep searching for journals and articles which describing about Fingerprint Generated Digital Signature, or any biometric-based approach.

26th Aug (Wed): Received BUNCH of journals from my SV. Feeling great! coz I dont need to search motivelessly on frustrating A-Z listing anymore !! Then everyday starts digesting those hard-to-understand diagrams, figures, terms, and even Math equation!!!

1st Sept (Tue): Welcome to September! Feeling relax coz there ain't any due date or tasks given besides reading those journals. But I was terribly wrong until 10th of September.

10 Sept (Thur): A true RARE wall-to-wall post from Chez (this usually doesn't happen coz i'm not girl) saying....

"dude, how's ur fyp? for ur info, u haven update ur blog for ages and this make ur SV worry.. Plus, most of us hand up the draft except u.. dateline will be on tuesday.. u better take note!! it's serious.."

this strucks me, and another reply he made...

"YES!!! chapter 1 to 5, including content page, appendix and gantt chart!! u're shit if u haven really started.. BIND the report!"

I believe was coincedence, the next day is 9-11... I spent my 9-11 midnight racing from Chapter 1-5 dengan kerasnya. Coz if I dont come out with something and meet my beloved SV on Friday, I'm going to miss another weekend and getting closer with due date without direction!!

Today, 11th Sept (Fri): Successfully defeated the angel-of-sneeze, finished the d-r-a-f-t report and meet up with my SV. Things goes well, except she's keep putting sandbags on my back. Training my will power's muscles. And the last instruction was
"Can you hand in this by Tuesday?" "Sure, (T_T) thanks miss..."

I've gotta feeling... woo hoo.. that tonight's gonna be a good night.. that tonight's gonna be a good good night~~ (I gotta feeling, Black Eyed Peas, 2009)

This is not the PSM time...

Gosh, another day passed and I still didn't managed to make any progress on the report. Network monitoring tools are really wide, broad, and complicated. The more article I read, the more terrible feeling I got because I know this is not going to be easy although it always SOUNDS easy...

There's so much thing to learn in this world to adapt yourself to the outside world. It's like an expedition, UTM is just the 300 meters stair cases before you reach the 10 kilometers destination. The stair case briefly let you experience how difficult it is, before you really facing the obstacles and adventures. I really love the word: "Sky is the limit". I always unable to believe what I can do before I done it. The feel of boosting up my courage and hold a task on your back is scary, but when I completed them successfully, the satisfaction is filled in every single spaces in my heart. And I really enjoy the feel. Yet, if fail to do so, there will be a lot of bullet shooting you, blaming you about being to irresponsible because you're not able to complete what you've decided to do.

The paragraph above speaks straight from my mind before i arrange them, if you don't know what am i writing it is okay. Now I worry about I am taking up too many tasks, and I afraid that at the end of the day, I couldn't reach even one of them. Well, this appears in my mind for a week, I know I really gotta decide something, but it's really too difficult for me to measure their importance at this moment. Perhaps, I should just carry on and see how far i could go.

aha! I'm using this blog to express what I'm thinking, thanks Cik Hazinah very much for 'forcing' me to start a blog. I thought write something on a blog could have killed me, but it doesn't!

For the one who reading this, forgive me if I didn't write about my PSM, in case you expect me to do so. Anyway, I'm not doing it, that's why all the craps I'm talking about. To end this post, I want thank God for everything He gave me. ^^

Cheers!

p/s : There's a stall in Sutera Mall, introducing a new sports. Its fun and exciting. Drop by if you free. I'll be there most of my time.

A task !

Well, i thought the PSM is tougher as you gotta plan yourself about everything such as what to do, how you gotta do it, I mean, just figure out everything by yourself... BUT, gladly it doesn't !

I've got a task today! That is:

List out all the network monitoring tools you can find, then mark down what it can do together with their outcome. Then I can select which tools I'm going to used for this comparison study.

Ya, before this, my project title is "Comparative study of Network Monitoring Tools". I believe the title is clear enough. It is mainly just take the monitoring tools, put them together, see what they can do, and analyze the difference, and which kind of network they suit. Sounds easy right, but I really do hope so...

Any ideas, comment, critics on this research just feel free to comment.

p/s: Almost can't breathe with my busy life now. Still, a brighter tomorrow is pushing me all the way to my dream!

Piece of thought about PSM

It was such a surprise when I read that we have to do some apply procedure if we want to write our thesis in English Language. And, there's certain requirement for your English subject result to get approval.

There are a few points that I really can't get it through in my mind:

1. Our institute is always trying its best to be well known International University isn't it? If that's the case, our thesis, which is the outcome of showing what we've learnt/how capable we are should be written in International Language by default.

2. If someone's English result isn't good, i think it's better for him/her to complete his/her whole book of thesis in English. Else, when this person is going to learn English? Imagine a computer science student graduate from Premier University of Technology in Malaysia don't understand the meaning of 'Networking' instead of always saying 'Rangkaian'.

3. It's time to change. Imagine if one day, our student did some great achievement, and a European decided to pay a visit to our library, and he actually couldn't understand the content in the Top 5 project thesis. In my opinion, that's going to be an awkward situation.

Think about it.
